Located on Logan Circle, the owners of this house meant to paint one side red, but the color turned out being more of a Pepto Bismol pink. Instead of repainting, the couple decided to turn the side of the house into a giant watermelon. Good decision, as it has now become a curiosity and pleasant wonder to visitors in the area and is a great hidden attraction in the nation’s capital.
The Watermelon House isn’t the only notable part of the area. Logan Circle is a historical neighborhood, being the only major circle in downtown D.C. that is still completely residential, without commercial interference. This long tradition dates back to the 1870’s when rows of Victorian style houses were aligned while streets were laid and trees planted.
