If you are a resident of the United Kingdom, you have the unique pleasure of visiting this secret attraction. Residents are able to scale to the top of Big Ben, inside the bell tower itself for an up-close inspection of the world’s most famous bell. While up there, make sure to take in the once-in-a-lifetime view of London from Big Ben’s Bell Tower!
While Big Ben is the term often used to refer to both the clock and the tower in which it sits, it technically only applies to the Great Bell, while the tower itself was named Clock Tower. It was changed in 2012 to Elizabeth Tower. Made in the Gothic style of architecture, the clock tower was built in 1859. Of all of the four-faced striking and chiming clocks in the world at the time, it was the largest and the most accurate. It stands 315 feet (96 m) tall.
