Museum of Brands Packaging and Advertising by Ann Lee
When Robert Opie started collecting ads, posters, games, toys, fashion, fads, food, and other brand name products, he probably didn’t expect it to turn into a museum of more than 12,000 pieces: a museum that brought in so many visitors when it first opened in 2005 that it had to change venues to a bigger space.
With items displayed in chronological order, the museum takes visitors down a “time tunnel,” transporting them down a road to the past. Full of long forgotten oddities, the oldest items in the collection date back to the 1800’s.
The museum has also become significant in terms of preservation of culture. The World Branding Forum sponsors educational classes at the museum that teach more than 10,000 students each year about history, culture, branding, transportation of goods and other business practices, and how countries work together to advance the world.
