Located in the Bodnant Garden in Conwy, North Wales, the Laburnum Arch is the biggest attraction during blooming season. Late May and early June see thousands of visitors flocking to the arch for the three weeks that the flowers are in full bloom, creating a golden arch that guests can walk under while marveling at the beauty. Designed in 1875, a large metal framework was constructed to form a 55-meter-long tunnel. Next, Laburnum branches were painstakingly woven through the structure and tied into place. This process still takes place every January, during the coldest time of the year, to prepare for the Spring rush of visitors. Once Spring arrives and the Laburnums bloom, golden yellows cascade down through the framework, inspiring awe in those passing underneath. Due to the brilliant nature of the blossoms, Laburnums have acquired the nickname, “Golden Rain.”
