A family run 200-acre farm, Gigrin has become popular for its Red Kite Feeding Centre, where daily feedings take place in front of visitors. Red Kites are medium large birds that belong to the same family as Eagles, and it shows in their features. Majestic red and white wings spread as the Eagle-like bird swoops down out of the sky, its powerful talons grasping its prey in a display of superiority.
Feedings occur daily at 3pm during the warmer months and 2pm when the colder season sets in. Only the park’s officials feed the Red Kites, while visitors watch from the safety of several hideouts for optimal viewing. Dogs are welcome but must be leashed at all times. The scene is well known to photographers and filmmakers, who capture the moment in crisp clarity to share with the world.
