Fell Beck stream slides along boulders and over carved paths until it comes to the gaping maw of a huge hole that falls 322 feet (98 meters) into the earth. The stream cascades over the edge in the tallest water free-fall in the world, until the liquid splashes upon a spacious cave floor and cuts its way through the side of the mountain to emerge once more next to Ingleborough Cave.
Many passageways lead visitors to the underbelly of the long drop, where they stand on a stony cavern floor staring in awe upward at the light and water rushing down through the massive mouth of the hole. Still others, more adventurous than their counterparts, ride the winch down the side of the opening, emerging at the bottom before being hauled up once more as the waters rush downward past them.
