One of the most charming lesser known shopping centers in Paris, Galerie Vivienne has been a quaint location for tailor shops since its debut in 1826. Designed in a neo-classical Pompeian style of architecture, the gallery makes use of simple geometric shapes that are a repeated theme through the vaulted glass ceilings and mosaic floors. Half moon windows lend personality to the shops, and the rotunda is graced by sculptures of nymphs and goddesses. A glass dome completes the rotunda overhead. True to the stunning adornings set into the walls outside the shops, many of the stores sell decorations ranging from simple to ornate. Others offer ready to wear items. The atmosphere is the perfect blend of small, ornate shops and delicate, valuable treasures.
