Catering to the upper class since its beginnings in 1826, Galerie Vero-Dodat continues the tradition of designer boutiques and high-end antique shops. Some of the more notable stores in the passage are the women's Paris flagship boutique, the world's first Boutique Homme, and two Louboutin stores.
Galerie Vero-Dodat was a very important covered passage during the first half of the 19th century. Covered passages were built for the middle and upper class to have shelter from bad weather or a clean place to stay off of muddy roads. Elegant designs were set into the architecture, often with depictions of nymphs or ancient heroes. Galerie Vero-Dodat was no exception, with gold trim, columns made of marble, and statues of Hermès with his winged helmet and Hercules shrouded in the Nemean lion’s mane. Needless to say, Galerie Vero-Dodat was a favorite spot for many a celebrity living in Paris.
