Freemason’s Hall, Hunter Street #1 by geograph.org
Built in the late 1860’s, the Grand Lodge of Ireland is the oldest continually operating Freemason lodge in the world. The second most senior Grand Lodge on the planet, it also holds jurisdiction over the 13 other Grand Lodges in Ireland, as well as 11 areas throughout the rest of the world. Tours are conducted every weekday at 2:30 during June, July, and August, and are well worth the visit. Packed with trinkets and relics collected throughout the organization’s history, the Lodge feels more like an antique museum than the house of an influential organization. Several rooms are themed, including an Egyptian room, Knights Templar, and Gothic room. There is even a public genealogical library where many visitors spend hours looking up their family history.
