The old home of one of the greatest contributors to mathematics, the property is preserved in memory of George Boole. As the first Professor of mathematics at Queen’s College, Cork, Boole created a system of algebraic logic called Boolean Logic that was later used as the foundation for electrical switches and the modern digital computer. The Information Age of technology owes a great debt to George Boole. During his time at the house, George wrote a significant work called “An Investigation of the Laws of Thought.” So important were his discoveries that he even has a crater of the moon named for him.
